Departure from the hotel to Tierra Mayor Valley. In this great snowy valley we start the journey on sleds pulled by Huskies, we slide down the snowy roads, through forests of lenga and end in the great snowy plain, the tour culminates at the meeting point, where we can take pictures. We return on snowmobiles, after instruction, we put on our helmets and off we go! The guide shows us the way and in this way, we culminate a dream ride... Upon returning to the Husky Park, we recover calories with a hot chocolate in the warmth of the fireplace.
Sled dogs are an ancient means of locomotion. The first to use them were the Inuit (Eskimos) in Alaska. In their sleds pulled by huskies, they traveled the great snowy distances of the Arctic.
A famous Argentinean, known as Gato Curuchet, was a pioneer in bringing this sport to Ushuaia. This boy -now a man- visited Alaska, lived with the Inuit, and learned all about the practice of sleds pulled by dogs, reindeer and other draft animals.
Thanks to him, today you can enjoy the sleigh ride in Ushuaia.
The sleds are made of lenga wood, a native tree of the area. They are designed by the team of Valle De Lobos maintaining the traditional techniques acquired in repeated trips to Inuit Land by Gato Curuchet.
You will travel through the forest for twenty minutes in this mythical means of locomotion. You will never forget it: there is no sensation comparable to driving a sled pulled by dogs.
