1. We depart from your accommodation toward Valle Hermoso
We’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation in Ushuaia to begin a different kind of afternoon, filled with nature, discovery, and excitement. We’ll travel along a scenic stretch of National Route 3, one of the most iconic roads in Patagonia, surrounded by mountains, valleys, and forests. Our destination is Valle Hermoso, a winter center where you’ll enjoy one of the most fascinating activities in the south: beaver watching in Ushuaia.
2. Heading to the beaver dams: guided walk through forests and peat bogs
Accompanied by our guide, you’ll walk along accessible trails that cross the forest and the peat bogs of the valley. As we move forward, the landscape begins to reveal the presence of the beavers: gnawed trees, small dams, and ponds that form part of their beaver colonies.
During the walk, you’ll discover how beavers live in Tierra del Fuego and how they have transformed the forest environment. This route gradually brings us closer to the place where we’ll do the beaver watching in Ushuaia.
3. The most anticipated moment: beaver watching
We arrive at the beaver colonies, the place where we’ll experience one of the most anticipated moments of the excursion. We settle in calmly and in silence to observe what happens around the water and the dams built by the beavers.
If the conditions are favorable, you may be able to see active beavers, swimming, moving along the banks, or working on their structures. It’s a special moment of the excursion, when patience and silence allow you to enjoy one of the most interesting wildlife encounters with the animals that now inhabit the forests of Tierra del Fuego.
4. A delicious afternoon snack surrounded by nature
During the beaver watching experience, you’ll enjoy a comforting afternoon snack in the forest, tasting local treats such as regional alfajores, chocolate, and mulled wine, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of nature.

Dinner includes a main course of your choice between beef tenderloin or salmon, accompanied by foil-baked potatoes and fresh salads, as well as dessert, coffee, and a special toast to end the day. 6. Comfortable return to your accommodation in Ushuaia

The walk to reach the beaver colonies is short and easy, suitable for all types of travelers. You don’t need any previous experience or special training, just a desire to enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by nature.
Absolutely! It’s a calm and very accessible excursion, specially designed to enjoy as a family. Children, adults, and older adults can all enjoy this experience comfortably, discovering together the incredible life of beavers in their natural environment.
We recommend comfortable clothing worn in layers, suitable footwear for walking (waterproof, with good grip and ankle support), and a waterproof jacket. No special technical equipment is required.
The Beaver Watching experience is available only during the spring and summer season, approximately from October to March, because this is the time of year when beavers are most active.
