Navegación Pingüinera:
Sail around the Bridge Archipelago: Pájaros Island, Lobos Island, Martillo Island, Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse and Pingüinera.
We will sail through the waters of the Beagle Channel watching incredible landscapes. You will meet penguins, wolves and birds in the wild. You will have your picture taken in the famous Les Eclaireurs lighthouse!
Pingüinera Navigation lasts five hours and is one of the favorite trips of our travelers.
Penguin season confirmed from October 10, 2024, to April 10, 2025.
Season: Between the months of October and April, the time when we can visit the penguins in Ushuaia.
We depart from the port of Ushuaia and the tour begins with a trip through the Ushuaia bay towards the Beagle Channel.
We visit by catamaran the "Bird Island", where we observe the local flora and fauna, as well as notable birds such as Skuas, Black-browed Albatrosses, Steamer Ducks, Cauquenes, Kelp Gulls, and Gray Gulls.
We continue towards "Sea Lion Island", where the main attraction is the one- and two-haired sea lions. These two islands are part of the Bridges archipelago.
In the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse (mal llamado Faro del Fin del Mundo) haremos la parada que todos están esperando:
The famous photo with the lighthouse behind, that unmissable photo that we all want to take as a souvenir.
There it is also possible to see Imperial Cormorants and Rockhoppers, as well as to learn about the wreck of the SS Monte Cervantes in the 1930s.
After the unmissable selfie at the misnamed Lighthouse at the End of the Worldproceed east.
During the navigation, you can spot Puerto Almanza on the Argentine side, and the Naval Base Puerto Williams on the Chilean side.
There is a half-hour stop at Isla Martillo, where we spot a colony of Magellanic, Gentoo, and occasionally some King penguins.
With our phones full of photos of this unique animal that chooses to live in Ushuaia year after year, we turn around and begin the journey back to Ushuaia.
We sail close to the northern coast of the Channel on the way back, which allows us to see the local flora and fauna up close.
It is also possible to observe the Estancia Túnel and Estancia Remolino, where the semi-sunken hull of the Monte Sarmiento steamship has been located since 1912.
One of the final views that the tour offers is the mountain range that surrounds the city of Ushuaia. It is an extremely rich tour both from the historical and natural point of view.
We take this maritime excursion through the Beagle Channel aboard Catamaranes Canoero, the most modern fleet of catamarans in Ushuaia and all of Argentina, with 2018, 2019, and 2020 models.
We have heating system, restrooms, bar and photo service.
The service is subject to weather conditions. The tour may be partially or totally altered due to mechanical and/or meteorological problems. In the event that 70% of the time of duration and/or programmed route is completed (in the case of the Penguin Navigation, considered to reach the Lighthouse of Les Eclaireurs is considered 70% of the total route) no partial or total reimbursement will be made. In case of unforeseen return by land, the place of arrival will be the tourist pier.
IMPORTANT
THIS TOUR DOES NOT HAVE A GUIDE IN PORTUGUESE.
As the port is walking distance from most of the downtown accommodations (only three blocks from our offices), you will have to go directly to the port at the indicated time. We will go to the corresponding catamaran booth (we will tell you precisely where it is in the port), and that is where you will present your voucher.
Pingüinera navegation has two daily departures: one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. We will be waiting for you at the Port of Ushuaia at the time of your choice, ready to start the day.
The tour begins with a tour of Ushuaia Bay. We sail through the Beagle Channel, home to all kinds of marine mammals. Above all, we want you to be comfortable: we go aboard our Canoero Catamarans. With 2018 and 2019 models, it is the most modern fleet of catamarans in Ushuaia.
From the boat, you will be able to appreciate the "Isla de los Pájaros". The biodiversity of the place is incredible. If you like birds, you are going to go crazy: barred eagles, Black-browed Albatrosses, Steamer Ducks, Gulls, Black-browed Gulls and Grey Gulls. Our guide will tell you curiosities and help you recognize each species.
The crossing continues to another unmissable point of the Bridges Archipelago: the Island of the Wolves. These animals are a lot of fun. They live in harem, that is to say that the male takes care of the whole group, especially during the breeding season, the sea lions know how to put on a show. Bring your camera, you will want to take a thousand pictures.
At Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse we make the most awaited stop. You will be able to take the famous photo with the lighthouse behind, that unmissable photo that we all want to take as a souvenir. Did you know that although many people call it the Lighthouse of the End of the World, this is incorrect? Our guide will tell you the history of this landmark and where the confusion comes from.
In addition, you will meet the birds that Charles Darwin fell in love with during his trip to Patagonia: the imperial cormorants and rock cormorants. And as in any self-respecting navigation, we tell you anecdotes of shipwrecks.
At Isla Martillo we dock for half an hour to watch the penguin colony. From our comfortable catamaran, we watch the Magellanic penguins, Gentoo penguins and some King penguins (if we are lucky). They are a real character! They sunbathe, swim, and walk in a funny way.
At the end, we crossed the path with the semi-sunken hull of the Monte Sarmiento Steamship.
We will return to the port of Ushuaia overlooking the Martial mountain ranges. This is the moment when you look at the horizon and are grateful for having made such a beautiful trip.
