Do you want to make the most of your trip by enjoying Ushuaia’s most sought-after winter experiences, both during the day and at night?
Snow: Classic Day & Night reúne en dos días las mejores actividades invernales, paisajes de cordillera and gastronomy, combinando una experiencia diurna y otra nocturna para que disfrutes la temporada desde dos formas distintas.
We’ll travel along National Route No. 3 toward the interior of Tierra del Fuego, passing through valleys, snow-covered forests, and winter centers.
Our first experience will take us to meet the famous Siberian husky dogs, the stars of mushing in Ushuaia. You’ll not only get to meet them in person, but also learn about their habits, interact with them, take the cutest photos, and share a moment full of canine affection with the most famous dogs of winter in Ushuaia.
Then, we’ll cross the Fuegian Andes to the Garibaldi Pass Viewpoint, with views of Lake Escondido and Lake Fagnano, before reaching the shore of Lake Fagnano to enjoy a picada (Argentinian cold cuts platter) with Mendoza wines and soft drinks by the lake.
And to wrap up the experience, at Villa Las Cotorras, a historic winter center in Ushuaia, we’ll enjoy our regional cuisine with a full lunch, which can be all-you-can-eat lamb or homemade pasta, served with salads, one drink, dessert, and coffee. Finally, one of the most anticipated moments of the day arrives: the tracked ATVs, to ride through the snow-covered valley with plenty of adrenaline and fun.
The next day, the snow is experienced under the magic of the winter night. We return to Villa Las Cotorras to enjoy a nighttime experience, as the valley transforms with the light of sunset and nightfall.
You’ll experience the thrill of exploring the snow-covered valley on snowmobiles; a snowshoe walk to move through the snowy valley at a different pace; and the classic snow sliding, adding plenty of fun and laughter in the snow. To finish, we’ll enjoy dinner at the winter center, completing a different kind of night in Ushuaia’s winter.
1. Starting the experience right from your doorstep
The experience begins with the comfort of knowing that you don’t have to worry about a thing. We’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation in Ushuaia and leave the city behind as we travel along National Route No. 3, the only road that connects the island of Tierra del Fuego from south to north. The Carbajal Valley comes into view and amazes us with its vast frozen peat bogs, surrounded by mountains and snow-covered forests.
2. We Visit a Siberian Husky Kennel
We arrive at Siberianos de Fuego, a kennel and home to more than 130 Siberian husky dogs, strong, noble, and absolutely adorable, who have been part of Ushuaia’s winter history through the practice of mushing.
You’ll not only get to meet them up close, pet them, and take the cutest photos filled with canine affection, but you’ll also discover the behind-the-scenes of mushing culture in Ushuaia, seeing how the dogs prepare for their activities.
3. We Cross the Winter Center Area toward Garibaldi Pass
We leave the huskies behind and continue along National Route No. 3 toward the mountains, crossing the area of Ushuaia’s winter centers, such as Tierra Mayor, Villa Las Cotorras, and the Cerro Castor area, home to the southernmost ski resort in the world, all in full seasonal activity.
The snow-covered lenga and ñire forests will accompany the scenery along the route as we begin climbing into the mountains to cross Garibaldi Pass, the only trans-Andean pass in Tierra del Fuego and one of the most sought-after panoramic spots in Ushuaia.
4. We Arrive at the Garibaldi Pass Viewpoint
We arrive at the famous Garibaldi Pass Viewpoint, and it’s time to take your must-have photos. We’ll get out of our vehicle to explore the viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy one of the most sought-after panoramic views in Ushuaia: the classic view of Lake Escondido, surrounded by snow-covered forests, with Lake Fagnano appearing in the distance.
5. We Discover the Great Lake Fagnano
Now comes the most exciting part of the day: discovering the famous Lake Fagnano. We continue along the route, descend from the mountains, and make our way to Lake Fagnano, one of the largest lakes in our country, which we also share with neighboring Chile.
Also known as Khami by the Selk’nam Indigenous peoples, we’ll have some free time by the lake, with the mountains in the background, so you can walk along its shore, take beautiful photos, and enjoy a selection of cold cuts accompanied by wines from Mendoza (or water or soft drinks).
6. Lunch at Villa Las Cotorras
We leave the lakes behind and return along National Route No. 3 towards Villa Las Cotorras, one of Ushuaia’s historic winter centers, where a complete lunch awaits us to recharge our energy after this first part of the adventure.
The star of the meal is the classic Fuegian lamb cooked on a cross over an open fire, although you can also choose another option such as homemade pasta, chicken or milanesas; accompanied by fresh salads, one included drink (soft drink or a glass of wine), dessert, and the famous Café del Mono (coffee brewed over hot coals).
7. We explore the valley on tracked ATVs
Now it’s time for one of the most anticipated moments: the tracked ATV ride, specially designed to move confidently over the snow. If you’re over 18 years old, you’ll get your turn to drive the ATV!(the ATVs are two-seaters, so driving is shared: two passengers ride on ONE ATV and switch drivers halfway through the route, although you can also pay an additional fee to ride individually); and if you’re under 18 or prefer not to drive, you can ride as a passenger and enjoy the experience alongside our guides. The valley opens up in front of you, the snow sprays up as you move forward, and the landscape takes on a whole new rhythm: pure excitement, fun, and adrenaline in the middle of Ushuaia’s winter night.
8. We return to Ushuaia
After enjoying a full day surrounded by huskies, mountains, lakes, lunch, and snow activities, it’s time to head back: we make our way to Ushuaia along National Route No. 3.
We’ll drop you off in the city center, an ideal spot to end the day at your own pace: take a walk along San Martín Avenue, have a drink, enjoy dinner, or simply keep exploring Ushuaia after a day packed with experiences.
1. We depart from the city center
We meet at our centrally located office (Avenida San Martín 775) and from there we all depart together to return to Villa Las Cotorras. We leave the city behind as evening falls and get ready to experience the snow at night.
2. We arrive at Villa Las Cotorras
Upon arriving at the winter center, our guides will welcome you and we’ll get ready to continue with the exclusive activities of the winter season. As daylight begins to fade, the snowy surroundings take on a different atmosphere, marking the beginning of a unique night out in the snow.
3. We walk through the snowy valley on snowshoes
We put on our snowshoes and get ready for our snowshoe walk. Guided by the light of our flashlights, we’ll walk with our expert guides along snow-covered trails, through the forest and different areas of the valley, feeling the crunch of the snow beneath your feet and the complete calm all around you. The quiet surroundings and the winter night create a very special atmosphere.
4. It’s time for the snowmobiles!
Now comes the most anticipated part of this nighttime experience: the snowmobile ride through the snow-covered valley illuminated by the light of the flashlights.
If you’re over 18 years old, you’ll get your turn to drive the snowmobile (they are two-seaters, with two people per snowmobile switching drivers halfway through the route; you can also pay an additional fee to ride individually); or, if you don’t meet the required age to drive or simply prefer not to, you can also choose to ride as a passenger and enjoy the experience with complete peace of mind, always accompanied by our expert guides.
5. We have fun sledding
And of course, there’s always time for some laughs with the sledding activity. You sit on one of these distinctive plastic sleds, so typical of our winter, and slide down the snow while having fun. You can go on your own, with someone else, race each other, fall, get back up, and laugh. Age doesn’t matter: sledding always brings out the kid in all of us. It’s fun, joyful, and genuinely unforgettable.
6. We finish with dinner
After the activities, it’s time to sit down and enjoy dinner in the dining room at Villa Las Cotorras: a delicious mountain-style lentil stew. It’s the perfect way to end a winter night: warm food, a mountain atmosphere, and a different experience to complete the second day.
7. We return you to your accommodation
After dinner, we begin the return journey to Ushuaia and take you back to your accommodation, bringing to a close two days designed to experience the snow both during the day and at night, with activities, landscapes, and very different moments.
Absolutely! Snow: Day & Night is a perfect experience for the whole family. The activities are specially designed so that everyone can enjoy Ushuaia’s winter safely and have fun, regardless of age. Both children and adults will take home unforgettable memories. Minors must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Yes, if you are over 18 years old, you can drive. No previous experience or driver’s license is required.
Keep in mind that both the snowmobiles and the tracked ATVs are TWO-SEATERS, so the driving is shared: TWO PASSENGERS ride on ONE SNOW VEHICLE and halfway through the route they switch drivers (as long as both meet the required age).
If there are minors or if you prefer not to drive, no problem: you can enjoy the ride as a passenger accompanied by our expert guide (minors must ride with their parents and/or legal guardians).
It’s important to be well bundled up, wearing comfortable clothing that is suitable for snow. We recommend dressing in layers, with a waterproof jacket, snow pants (waterproof), hat, gloves and waterproof boots.
If you don’t have technical clothing, don’t worry: it can be easily rented in Ushuaia. If you need to rent boots, contact us.
The main difference lies in the huskies experience. The Classic version of Snow: Day & Night includes a visit to the kennel, where you’ll meet the dogs, interact with them, take photos, and enjoy a special moment of puppy love. The Premium version includes all of the above, plus the experience of a sled ride with Siberian huskies.
No. The experience is divided into two days so you can enjoy winter in Ushuaia both during the day and at night.
Day 1 includes huskies (depending on the version, it may include interaction + the sled ride or just meeting them), crossing the mountain range, Garibaldi Pass viewpoint, Lake Fagnano, a selection of cold cuts, lunch, and tracked ATVs.
Day 2 includes snowmobiles, a snowshoe walk, sledding, and dinner.
Lunch on Day 1 takes place at Villa Las Cotorras and includes all-you-can-eat lamb or pasta, accompanied by salads, one drink of your choice between water, soft drink, or a glass of wine, dessert, and the famous Café del Mono (coffee brewed over hot coals).
The dinner show on Day 2 is included, but the menu is to be confirmed. In this case, we recommend checking the menu when making your reservation.
The experience takes place over two days.
No, la versión Snow: Classic Day & Night no incluye el paseo en trineo tirado con huskies.
