Enjoy an afternoon of adventure with our Classic Sunset 4×4 Lakes Adventure, which packs the best of Ushuaia’s off-road adventure into half a day, heading toward the great lakes: Escondido and Fagnano.
Aboard our Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 4×4 vehicles, we’ll travel along National Route No. 3 heading north, with stops at the Carbajal Valley viewpoint, a glacial valley with extensive peat bogs, and at Siberianos de Fuego, home to more than 130 Siberian husky dogs.
In addition, this journey along National Route No. 3 takes us through the area of Ushuaia’s winter centers, such as the famous Cerro Castor (the southernmost ski resort in the world), and across the Andes through our Garibaldi Pass, the only trans-Andean pass connecting Ushuaia with the rest of the island. There, we’ll stop at the Garibaldi Pass viewpoint, where you can take in two iconic views: Lake Escondido and Lake Fagnano.
And in the Bombilla Nature Reserve, our expert drivers will show their skills as they tackle the off-road circuit in our 4×4 vehicles, driving through mud, roots, and the forest. The experience wraps up on the shore of Lake Fagnano, one of the largest lakes in Argentina, where you’ll have time to walk along the shore, take photos, and finish the experience enjoying a picada (Argentinian cold cuts platter) with drinks after an afternoon full of adventure.

1. Pick-up from your place in Ushuaia
We’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation so that from the very beginning you can feel that a different kind of afternoon is about to start, as we travel along National Route No. 3 toward the north of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. The journey itself is already part of the experience: mountain curves, scenic landscapes, and the feeling that you’re about to discover unique places.
2. First picture-perfect stop: Carbajal Valley
The first stop is the Carbajal Valley viewpoint, a landscape of glacial origin very characteristic of Ushuaia's geography: its extensive peat bogs covering much of the terrain are striking, along with its native forests and the Fuegian Andes Mountains. From this point, you can observe the Sierra Alvear with peaks such as Mount Alvear and Mount Krund, as well as the slopes of Mount Bonete and, in the distance, part of the Sierra Sorondo, creating one of the most iconic postcards of Ushuaia and National Route 3.
3. Meet the Siberian huskies
We continue towards Siberianos de Fuego, a winter center and Siberian Husky kennel, home to more than 130 dogs. You will meet the famous protagonists of winter, who keep the mushing culture alive in Ushuaia (in winter they perform the famous dog sledding). In addition to sharing a moment full of puppy love, where you can pet and play with them, you will be able to take the most beautiful photos of the day with them; their lively eyes and contagious energy make it impossible not to be moved.
4. Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint
We leave the huskies behind and continue along National Route No. 3 toward the ascent into the mountains. Along the way, we pass the main winter centers in Ushuaia, such as Tierra Mayor, Villa Las Cotorras, and the Cerro Castor area, the southernmost ski resort in the world. As we continue, the landscape fills with lenga and ñire forests, peat bogs, and finally the mountains of the Andes that accompany the ascent until we reach the Garibaldi Pass viewpoint. This is the only trans-Andean pass on the island and one of the most sought-after panoramic spots: from here, you can take in two classic views of Tierra del Fuego. On one side, Lake Escondido, surrounded by forests, and in the distance the imposing Lake Fagnano.
5. Off-road section in Bombilla Nature Reserve
Now comes the moment when our 4×4 vehicles are put to the test: mud tracks, roots, uneven terrain, and rough paths that seem impossible for any other vehicle. Together with our expert drivers, adrenaline and fun blend with the natural surroundings as we cross forests and hidden trails until we reach the shore of Lake Fagnano.
6. Shores of Lake Fagnano with Picada (Argentinian Cold Cuts Platter) Included
The grand finale takes place on the shore of Lake Fagnano, one of the largest lakes in Argentina and known as Khami by the Selk’nam Indigenous people. Its immensity is so impressive that when the wind blows, it looks like a true inland sea. By the lake, you’ll be able to walk along the shore, take photos, and, to wrap up the experience, we’ll share a picada (Argentinian cold cuts platter) with drinks (water, soft drink, or wine) before heading back to Ushuaia.
