It is an experience designed to make the most of the afternoon and end the day in the immensity of Lake Fagnano, after visiting some of Tierra del Fuego's most iconic landscapes.
Aboard our 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicles, we leave the city of Ushuaia behind and head north on National Scenic Route 3, which in summer displays all its vitality: green forests, peat bogs, and mountains framing the route. You will visit the Carbajal Valley viewpoint, meet the famous Siberian huskies, and from the Garibaldi Pass viewpoint, you will contemplate the island's most sought-after views: Lake Escondido and Lake Fagnano.
The Bombilla Nature Reserve marks the peak adrenaline moment with the off-road section, where our expert drivers and 4×4s push through mud, roots, and hidden trails. The journey ends at the immense Lake Fagnano, one of Argentina's largest: there, you will have time to walk the coast, take photos, and enjoy a snack with drinks, the perfect closing for an adventure afternoon.
The Classic 4x4 Lakes Tour Sunset in Ushuaia – Summer Season is the ideal option for those who want to experience the essence of 4×4 adventure in Ushuaia, combining unique landscapes and nature at the End of the World.
1. The adventure starts right at your doorstep
The adventure begins when we pick you up directly from your accommodation in Ushuaia in our 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado trucks. The moment we leave the city behind, the landscape changes: open valleys, peat bogs, and mountains give you a taste of what awaits.
2. First picture-perfect stop: Carbajal Valley
The first stop is at the Carbajal Valley viewpoint, a valley of glacial origin crossed by extensive peat bogs. From here, you can see the Sierra Alvear mountains, with peaks like Mount Alvear and Mount Krund, plus the slopes of Cerro Bonete and the distant Sierra Sorondo, one of the most iconic postcards of National Route 3 in Ushuaia.
3. Up close with the Siberian Huskies:
At Siberianos del Fuego, the famous Siberian husky dogs will greet you with all their energy. You'll be able to get close, pet them, and enjoy a unique moment with these dogs that are a true symbol of Ushuaia. Their friendliness and vitality make this a truly adorable encounter!
4. Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint
Leaving the huskies behind, we continue along National Route N°3 towards the mountain range. Along the way, you'll see Ushuaia's main winter resorts, such as Tierra Mayor, Villa Las Cotorras, and the Cerro Castor area, the southernmost ski resort in the world. As we ascend, the landscape fills with forests of "lengas" and "ñires" (native trees), peat bogs, and mountains that accompany us on our journey to the Paso Garibaldi viewpoint. This is the island's only cross-Andean pass and one of its most sought-after panoramic spots. From here, you can admire two classic postcard views of Tierra del Fuego: on one side, Escondido Lake, surrounded by forests, and in the background, the imposing Fagnano Lake.
5. Garibaldi Circuit and shores of Lago Escondido
From the Paso Garibaldi viewpoint, we enter the Garibaldi circuit, descending through ancient paths opened by woodcutters who worked with lenga wood. Along the way, you can still see vestiges of old sawmills, connecting us with the pioneering era of Tierra del Fuego. The 4x4 adventure adds excitement at every turn, until reaching the shore of Lago Escondido, a corner surrounded by forests.
6. Break at Casona de Mary
We'll make a brief stop at the traditional Casona de Mary, a classic rest stop on National Route N°3. It's the ideal place to stretch your legs, use the facilities, and, if you'd like, try a "torta frita" (a local fried pastry) or a hot drink. A simple pause that gives us a breather for the day before we tackle the most adventurous part of the tour.
7. Off-road circuit in the Bombilla Nature Reserve
We arrive at the Bombilla Natural Reserve, where the off-road section begins. Our expert drivers and 4x4 trucks show their full potential as they navigate through mud, roots, and hidden trails on a journey full of adrenaline and fun that connects us with the most authentic nature of Ushuaia.
8. Lake Fagnano Shores with local snacks included
The grand finale is at the Lake Fagnano shore, one of Argentina's largest and known by the Selk’nam natives as Khami. Its immensity is so impressive that when the wind blows, it looks like an inland sea. You will have time to walk the shore, take photos, and share a snack with drinks (water, soda, or wine) before heading back.
