1. The adventure starts right at your doorstep
We pick you up directly from your accommodation in our Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 4x4 vehicles, comfortable and prepared for this type of adventure. From the start, you will feel a different day beginning, traveling National Route 3 towards the north of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. The journey itself is part of the experience: mountain curves, landscapes, and the feeling of being about to discover unique places.
2. First picture-perfect stop: Carbajal Valley
The first stop is the Valle Carbajal viewpoint, a valle de origen glaciar que en otoño se transforma en una paleta de colores rojos, naranjas y amarillos.
Desde este punto se observan las extensas turberas, native forests and the Cordillera de los Andes Fueguinos que enmarcan la vista, además de la Sierra Alvear con cumbres como el Monte Alvear and the Monte Krund, laderas del Cerro Bonete y, a lo lejos, la Sierra Sorondo. An postal clásica de la Ruta Nacional N°3 y la geografía de Ushuaia, realzada por los colores del otoño.
3. Up close with the Siberian Huskies:
Seguimos hacia Siberianos de Fuego, a centro invernal criadero de perritos huskies siberianos, donde viven más de 130 perritos. Vas a conocer a los famosos protagonistas del invierno, quienes mantienen viva la cultura del mushing en Ushuaia (en invierno realizan el famoso trineo tirado por perros).
Además de compartir un momento cargado de amor perruno, donde vas a poder acariciarlos y jugar, vas a poder sacarte las fotos más lindas del día junto a ellos, con sus miradas vivaces y su energía contagiosa hacen que sea imposible no emocionarse.
4. Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint
Dejamos atrás a los huskies y seguimos por la National Route N°3 rumbo al ascenso de la cordillera. En el camino aparecen los principales centros invernales de Ushuaia, like Tierra Mayor, Villa Las Cotorras y el área de Cerro Castor, el centro de esquí más austral del mundo.
A medida que avanzamos, el paisaje se llena de bosques de lengas y ñires, turberas y finalmente las mountains que acompañan el ascenso hasta llegar al Paso Garibaldi viewpoint. Este es el único paso transcordillerano de la isla y uno de los puntos panorámicos más buscados: desde acá se aprecian dos postales clásicas de Tierra del Fuego. Por un lado, el Escondido Lake, rodeado de bosques, y al fondo el imponente Fagnano Lake.
5. A Break at Casona de Mary
The path leads us to Casona de Mary, a classic rest stop along National Route 3, where we make a brief technical stop. This place, well-known by locals and travelers roaming the island, is a resting point in the middle of the landscape. Here you will have a moment to stretch your legs, use the restrooms and, if you wish, try a hot drink or a tempting "torta frita," before facing the most adventurous part of the tour: the off-road section towards Lake Fagnano.
6. Off-Road Section in the Bombilla Natural Reserve
After the break, the most exciting part of the day arrives: the off-road section in the Bombilla Nature Reserve. In this stretch, our 4x4 vehicles are put to the test: mud tracks, roots, uneven terrain and irregular paths that seem impossible for any other vehicle. Together with our expert drivers, adrenaline and fun combine with the natural environment, crossing forests and hidden trails until reaching the shore of Lake Fagnano.
7. Lakeside "Picada" at Lake Fagnano
The great moment of this 4x4 experience is lived on the shore of Lake Fagnano, also known as Khami by the Selk'nam indigenous people. This immense lake, one of the largest in Argentina, surprises with its size and, when the wind blows, often resembles an inland sea. Facing its waters and with the mountains in the background, you will have free time to walk, take photos, and enjoy a snack platter of cold cuts with drinks (water, soda, or wine), closing the 4x4 experience with the magnitude of one of Tierra del Fuego's most iconic landscapes.
8. Lunch at Villa Las Cotorras
Dejamos atrás los lakes y regresamos por la National Route N°3 hacia Villa Las Cotorras, one of Ushuaia's historic winter centers, donde nos espera un a full lunch to recargar energías después de la 4x4 adventure.
El gran protagonista es el clásico cordero fueguino a la estaca, aunque también podés elegir otra opción como homemade pasta, chicken or milanesas; acompañado de fresh salads, a included drink (soda or a glass of wine), dessert and the famous café del Mono (un café hecho a las brasas).
9. Adrenalina en cuatriciclos
Con las energías recargadas, llega el momento de subirnos a los ATV tour y sumar otra dosis de adrenaline: vas a sentir la emoción de avanzar por caminos rodeados de naturaleza entre el forest and the valley, con la velocidad justa para divertirte y disfrutar del paisaje otoñal de Ushuaia.
Además, ¡si sos mayor de 18 años, vas a tener tu turno de manejar el cuatriciclo! (Tené en cuenta que los cuatriciclos son biplaza, es decir, doble conducción: en un cuatriciclo van dos pasajeros y a mitad de recorrido se cambia de conductor, sin excepción). If you are over 18, you can drive the ATV; if you are a minor or prefer not to drive, no problem: you can enjoy the ride as a passenger with our expert guide. Keep in mind that the ATVs are two-seaters, so the driving is shared: two passengers ride on ONE ATV, and you switch drivers halfway through the tour. As for the hike through the valley, it is a short walk and not physically demanding.
The menu includes the classic all-you-can-eat Patagonian lamb, slow-cooked on a stake, served with salads, dessert, "café del mono" (a special local coffee), and one drink per person.
