Live the Lakes 4×4 FULL Sunset experience in summer: a complete afternoon excursion that combines nature, adventure, and the best gastronomy of the southernmost city in the world.
On this unique outing, you will tour Carbajal Valley, visit the famous Siberian huskies, stop at the Paso Garibaldi viewpoint, contemplate Lake Escondido, and reach the immensity of Lake Fagnano with an off-road section through forests and alternative paths. Additionally, you will enjoy a unique lunch at the historic winter center Villa Las Cotorras and experience exclusive activities: an ATV ride and a hike to an active beaver dam. Everything is accompanied by our expert guide and driver, who will make every moment more interesting with local stories and anecdotes.
The adventure starts at noon when we pick you up at your accommodation in Ushuaia in our Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 4x4 trucks—vehicles prepared to travel both National Scenic Route No. 3 and off-road alternative paths. The initial route invites you to discover landscapes lit by a special light this season: peat bogs, native forests, and mountains that anticipate a day of pure adventure.
The first stop is Carbajal Valley, a glacial scenery that surprises with its extension and contrasts. From the viewpoint, the peat bogs and mountains form a postcard that becomes even more intense with the clarity of midday.
Further on, we reach Siberianos del Fuego, where the Siberian huskies wait with their unmistakable energy. You'll be able to get close, pet them, and learn how they are part of the mushing tradition in Ushuaia. A heartwarming encounter, perfect for taking photos and memories.
Resuming National Route No. 3, we head to the Paso Garibaldi viewpoint, from where you get panoramic views of Lakes Escondido and Fagnano, with daylight highlighting every detail of the landscape.
Upon reaching Villa Las Cotorras, the warm atmosphere of this historic winter center invites you to relax and share a full lunch. The classic all-you-can-eat Fuegian lamb is the star dish, although there are also options of chicken, schnitzels, or homemade pasta.
With renewed energy, we continue with the exclusive activities. First, an ATV ride, combining adrenaline and fun in direct contact with nature. Then, a hike to an active beaver dam, where you'll discover how these animals transformed Ushuaia's environment with their dams.
The afternoon progresses with new postcards from the Paso Garibaldi viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of Lake Escondido and Lake Fagnano. Further on, the Garibaldi circuit takes us through old paths opened by lenga woodcutters, where you can still see remains of sawmills, until reaching the shore of Lake Escondido.
After a short break at the traditional Casona de Mary, one of the most awaited moments of the day arrives. We enter the Bombilla Natural Reserve and the true off-road adventure begins: the 4×4 trucks make their way through mud tracks, roots, and hidden paths that only these vehicles can traverse, making the experience pure adrenaline and fun. Through forests and untouched landscapes, we reach the famous Lake Fagnano.
The grand finale arrives at the shore of this immense lake, where you'll enjoy free time and a snack with drinks as the day reaches its final hours. It's the perfect moment to relax, contemplate the magnitude of the landscape, and end the day in the best possible way.
Finally, we return to your accommodation in Ushuaia, late in the evening, with the satisfaction of having lived a full day of 4×4 adventure, history, nature, and Patagonian flavors at the End of the World.
1. We kick off at midday from your doorstep
We pick you up directly from your accommodation in Ushuaia aboard our 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicles, which are comfortable and equipped for the roads of the Scenic National Route N°3 and the off-road trail. From the very beginning, the journey gives you a taste of what's to come: peat bogs, lenga and ñire forests, and the mountains that define the landscape of Tierra del Fuego.
2. First picture-perfect stop: Carbajal Valley
The first stop is the Carbajal Valley viewpoint, a landscape of glacial origin that is impressive for its vastness and the peat bogs that cover much of the terrain. From this spot, you can see the Sierra Alvear with peaks like Mount Alvear and Mount Krund, as well as the slopes of Cerro Bonete and, in the distance, part of the Sierra Sorondo, creating one of the most iconic postcard views of Ushuaia and National Route N°3.
3. Up close with the Siberian Huskies:
The next experience is at Siberianos del Fuego, a kennel where the Siberian huskies are the stars. You'll be able to get close, pet them, and discover how they are part of the mushing in Ushuaia, a practice that is kept alive and forms part of the local identity.
4. Lunch at Villa Las Cotorras
Around noon, we arrive at Villa Las Cotorras, one of Ushuaia's historic winter centers, known for its cozy atmosphere and culinary tradition. As you step inside, the warmth of the firewood and the aroma from the grill give you a taste of what's to come. The star of the menu is the all-you-can-eat Patagonian lamb, a classic on local cuisine served juicy and tender, straight from the stake. For those who prefer another option, there are also homemade dishes like chicken, milanesas or pasta, always served with side dishes and a included drink (soda or a glass of wine).
5. ATV Adrenaline Rush
With renewed energy comes one of the most fun parts of the day: the ATV ride. If you're over 18 years old , you can drive your own ATV, or you can ride as a passenger and just enjoy the tour. Always led by our specialized instructors, the circuit takes you through the valley's landscape, full of adrenaline and fun.
6. Hike to an active beaver lodge
The afternoon continues with a short hike to an active beaver lodge, where you'll discover how the beavers have shaped the landscape with their dams and ponds. It's a perfect moment to learn about the Ushuaia ecosystem and see their impact on nature up close.
7. Garibaldi Pass Viewpoint
Once the activities at Villa Las Cotorras are finished, we return to National Route 3 towards the heart of the Fuegian mountain range. The road takes us to the Paso Garibaldi viewpoint, the only trans-Andean pass on the island. From this panoramic point, you can enjoy two iconic views of Tierra del Fuego: Lake Escondido, surrounded by forests, and the imposing Lake Fagnano, stretching toward the horizon.
8. Garibaldi Circuit and Lake Escondido
From the viewpoint, we venture into the Garibaldi circuit, a path steeped in history and nature. The descent takes place along trails originally opened by woodsmen to transport lenga wood, an activity that marked the first productive developments in Tierra del Fuego. It is still possible to find remains of old sawmills, traces of the effort of those pioneers who worked in extreme conditions, turning the journey into an experience where 4x4 adventure meets the region's memory. The road leads us to the shores of Lake Escondido.
9. A Break at Casona de Mary
10. Off-Road Adventure in Bombilla Nature Reserve
After the break, comes the most exciting part of the day: the off-road section in the Bombilla Nature Reserve. The 4×4 unleash their full power, tackling mud, roots, and hidden trails that only these vehicles can handle. The adrenaline of the ride combines with the beauty of the forest before emerging on the shores of Fagnano Lake.
11. Shores of Lake Fagnano with snacks included
The grand finale of the day is on the shores of the Fagnano Lake, one of the largest in our Argentina and known by the indigenous peoples like Khami. Its size is so impressive that it often looks like an inland sea. Here, you'll have time to walk along the coast, take in the scenery, and share a "picada" with drinks (water, soda, or wine) in a setting that combines nature, history, and tranquility.
12. Return to your accommodation in Ushuaia
As the day comes to an end, we begin the return trip to your accommodation in Ushuaia around 8:00 PM. You'll be left with the feeling of having experienced a complete tour: 4x4 adventure, nature, history, and Patagonian flavors, capping off the experience at the End of the World in the late afternoon.
