During summer, the Beagle Channel is full of life, offering longer and brighter days to fully enjoy the experience. You will navigate unique panoramic views and visit emblematic sites until reaching Martillo Island, a famous nature reserve that becomes the temporary home for Magellanic and Gentoo penguins arriving to nest.

During this navigation, you will visit places such as:

  • 🌿 Birds' Island – Sea bird sanctuary in the middle of summer

You will observe a remarkable variety of sea birds in their natural habitat. Colonies of Imperial and Rock shags, albatrosses, skuas, and Dolphin gulls will be especially active this season, creating an exceptional visual and sound spectacle on the rocks and over the water.

In this stop you will marvel at one and two-haired sea lions enjoying the summer sun and swimming naturally around the vessel. It is a unique opportunity to closely appreciate their behavior, characteristic movements, and sounds, while taking memorable photos.

  • Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse – The iconic Lighthouse at the End of the World

Besides its scenic beauty, our expert guide will share interesting stories about this historic lighthouse and its relevance to southern navigation.

  • 🐧 Martillo Island – The long-awaited encounter with Magellanic and Gentoo penguins

The most special moment will be reaching the fascinating penguin colony on Martillo Island. In summer, you will contemplate these charismatic animals interacting, moving freely around the island, feeding their chicks, and swimming nearby. Occasionally, you may also spot the majestic King Penguin. You will live an encounter full of emotion, joy and authentic connection with southern wildlife.

Throughout the journey, our specialized local guide will share passionate stories, curious facts, and secrets of the marine fauna and Fuegian history with you, further enriching every moment of the tour.

Frequently Asked Questions

The excursion starts at the Ushuaia Tourist Port, located right in the city center, a very accessible and easy-to-find place. When you confirm your booking, we will clearly indicate the exact meeting point. Please note that this excursion does not include transfer, so we recommend that you arrive at the port on your own at least 30 minutes in advance, so you can board calmly and fully enjoy the experience.

We’re looking forward to see you!

Generally no, as we are prepared to navigate under the usual weather conditions in Ushuaia, which may include some wind or rain.

Only in exceptional situations, if the Naval Prefecture determines that it is better not to sail, the departure is rescheduled or cancelled, offering you clear and flexible options.

Even though it is summer, Ushuaia remains a Patagonian destination. You will have sunny days and cooler ones. The ideal is to dress in light layers:

  • T-shirt or base layer
  • Sweatshirt or light jacket
  • Long, comfortable pants
  • Waterproof jacket.
  • Footwear suitable for walking (waterproof and with good soles).

Get ready to walk among landscapes that seem to be from another planet!

During the Pinguinera navigation, no disembarkment takes place, as the entire experience is comfortably enjoyed from the catamaran, ensuring minimal impact on the penguin colonies and allowing you to observe them very closely from the deck.

It is ideal for photographing and calmly contemplating these incredible seabirds in their natural environment!.

Absolutely! The navigation is very calm, safe and accessible for everyone. On board, you will find heated and protected spaces, as well as outdoor areas where you can enjoy the views and take photos.

Yes, on the catamaran you will have a small onboard cafeteria to enjoy during the navigation. This service is optional, has an additional cost, and you can pay for it directly on the boat.

No, this excursion is available only during the season when penguins arrive at the Beagle Channel, from early October to approximately the end of March (spring-summer).

If you plan your visit outside of these months, we recommend the Beagle Channel Navigation, which is available throughout the year.

During the navigation, you will be able to mainly observe Magellanic penguins, also Gentoo penguins, and with some luck, some specimens of the famous King penguin that sometimes visits the island.

An incredible experience to see them in their own habitat!
