🐧🦀 Exclusive Penguin Watching + Lunch in Puerto Almanza: Nature, adventure, and flavors of the Beagle Channel

Can you imagine discovering Ushuaia's famous penguin colony from an exclusive boat, sailing comfortably toward Martillo Island and wrapping up your day enjoying the most authentic flavors of the King Crab Route?

This proposal is ideal for you, seeking an authentic, intimate, and complete experience on your visit to the End of the World: you'll get to experience the King Crab Route, an intimate navigation through the Beagle Channel toward Martillo Island for a peaceful and close-up sighting of Magellanic and Gentoo penguins, and you'll have a perfect finishing touch with an authentic lunch in Puerto Almanza.

Organized directly by our own local team, without intermediaries, this experience guarantees security, comfort, and close contact with the purest nature of the Beagle Channel.

The adventure begins at the Ushuaia port, from where we depart in our comfortable vehicles along National Scenic Route No. 3, starting this adventure through the famous King Crab Route heading toward Puerto Almanza.

While traveling this route, you'll pass through valleys surrounded by winter centers that transform into unique natural settings year-round, notably the famous Cerro Castor, the southernmost ski resort in the world. The journey continues to Rancho Hambre, a historical site of the first colonization attempt on the island, a stop filled with fascinating stories about the adventurous and challenging past of Tierra del Fuego.

From there, we continue along the scenic Provincial Route J, immersed in a virgin forest of lengas and ñires, framed by the beauty of the Lasifashaj River that snakes alongside the road. A perfect combination of scenic beauty and Fuegian peacefulness.

Your destination is Puerto Almanza, an artisanal fishing village 70 km from Ushuaia, famous for the unparalleled quality of its fresh seafood and its natural and authentic atmosphere. There, we board our exclusive, state-of-the-art boat, equipped with mirrored dual engines and the only on-board heating system available in the area, designed to guarantee comfort and security throughout the navigation.

From Almanza, we begin an unforgettable navigation through the historic Guaraní Pass, with privileged views of Gable Island, a key territory in the history of the ancient Yámana people, legendary navigators of the Beagle Channel. This journey offers not only spectacular views but also a deep connection with the culture and history of the channel.

We'll reach Martillo Island, one of the few islands in the world where colonies of Magellanic and Gentoo penguins coexist during spring and summer. You'll enjoy an intimate and peaceful sighting, with plenty of time to contemplate them up close in their natural habitat, creating unforgettable memories.

After this magical encounter with the penguins, we sail back to Puerto Almanza, once again enjoying the unique beauty of the Beagle Channel.

Upon disembarking, a special gastronomic experience awaits you: in an authentic local restaurant facing the channel, you will savor fresh seafood, straight from the water to your table, prepared by the local people, along with other regional flavors that will make lunch a memorable experience.

Finally, we begin the comfortable return to the Ushuaia port, leaving you with an unforgettable All-in-One Experience, full of nature, authentic flavors, and the satisfaction of having experienced the End of the World in its most exclusive and genuine version.

An authentic, exclusive, and memorable experience in Ushuaia, designed for travelers seeking unique moments, without intermediaries, and with the support of our local team. We look forward to giving you an experience you will remember forever!

We booked this tour months before our arrival in Ushuaia. Their communications are clear and timely. We were picked up from our hotel on time. The bus was comfotable and safe. Our guide, Elieen, was excellent. She is pleasent and knowledgeable. She shared a lot of information about history and culture. We were dropped off at the train station. Eileen helped us with our train ticckets and made sure we were in line for boarding. The scenery along the train route was awesome...

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, of course! This activity is perfect for the whole family, including children, adults, and seniors. The experience is safe, comfortable, and adapted so everyone can fully enjoy the sighting.
The excursion is available during the penguin season, approximately from spring to summer (generally from October to April).
We recommend dressing in layers with warm clothing suitable for the Patagonian weather (waterproof jacket, fleece, or thermal sweater), plus good footwear to keep you comfortable throughout the entire excursion.
We don't disembark on the islandbut the penguin watching is from very close up, as we approach in a specially designed boat to offer an intimate and safe experience.
The excursion is carried out in a modern and specially equipped boat, with twin engines and a unique heating system, the only one of its kind in Ushuaia. Furthermore, we offer limited spots, ensuring comfort, exclusivity, and safety throughout the entire experience.
Generally no, as we are prepared to sail even if there is a bit of wind or rain. Only in exceptional situations, if the Naval Prefecture (Prefectura Naval) determines it's better not to go out, the departure is rescheduled or cancelled offering you clear and flexible options.

It includes lunch at a typical restaurant in Puerto Almanza. The Premium version of this excursion includes a lunch with fresh Fuegian spider crab prepared in a traditional way. The Traditional version offers a lunch made with the fresh catch of the day, equally delicious and authentically local.

We can offer you alternatives according to the daily menu and also vegetarian options. Please let us know in advance when booking so we can inform you of the options available that day and adapt to your preferences.

Yes, absolutely! You'll have excellent opportunities to take incredible photos of the penguins and the landscapes around us. Make sure to bring your camera or cellphone fully charged to capture these unique moments.
