A sólo 12 km de Ushuaia nos espera la parada más emblemática: el End of the World TrainYou will have the opportunity to relive our history on the famous prisoner train!.
Here you will see the "behind the scenes" of the train, with the engine room of the Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino in full operation. Inside the station, there is also a photo gallery that reconstructs the history of the famous train. There is also a cafeteria and souvenir store for unique souvenirs.
Climb aboard the famous "prisoners' train". You will enjoy the last 7 kilometers of the original route that prisoners used to take every morning to go to work.
Originally, they left from the Ushuaia prison to the slopes of Mount Susana to extract wood and aggregates for construction work.
This will be the first stop. We walk to a viewpoint that offers an unparalleled view of the Pipo River Valley, Cerro Guanaco, Cerro la Portada and Mount Susana. In addition, you will contemplate the beautiful Macarena waterfall.
After a few minutes, the guards' whistle will call everyone to get back on board and the train restarts its march towards Tierra del Fuego National Park.
Bordering the Pipo River, you will relive history in time and space.
Time: through which the guide's narrative takes us to that story.
Space: you will be able to see the vestiges of the prisoners' daily routine after almost half a century.
They cut down the forests to supply the town with firewood and timber, which they used, for example, to build the first aqueducts, the dock and all the works needed by that small population until 1947.
Once we have enjoyed the exciting tour of the prisoners, the guide will be waiting for us in the minibus to continue the tour of the national park.
Inside the park you will see the iconic flora and fauna of the Fuegian forest: large trees and animals as friendly as the Fuegian red fox, the cachaña or the giant woodpecker.
You will walk along the Las Lengas trail until you reach Lapataia Bay. There you will be able to take the iconic picture with the End of the World sign and enjoy the views of the bay.
The sign symbolizes the union of Ushuaia and Alaska, the two ends of the American continent connected by the Pan-American Highway.
This is the southernmost protected area in the country, the only national park in Argentina that combines sea, forest and mountains.
The tour continues. I discovered Laguna Verde. From there we will see one of the faces of Cerro Condor, which marks an imaginary boundary with the sister Republic of Chile.
After this we arrive at Lake Acigami. The name comes from the native Yámana language and means "elongated basket". This is because in the past, the tribe used an elongated basket that has the same shape of the lake to collect mussels by canoe.
The last stop is the Zaratiegui inlet: where the sea enters the land. It is a panoramic point not to be missed, surrounded by the Beagle Channel and the forest of flag trees.
You can admire the round island, and visit the last post office of the Argentine Post Office. Here, visitors from all over the world stamp their passports and also send correspondence or postcards to any place in the world, with the stamp of the End of the World.
At all stops we get off the minibus to take advantage of the panoramic views, take pictures and, of course, receive the explanation of our guide.
We said goodbye to the National Park after noon. We finished this excursion in downtown Ushuaia.
The vast majority of our travelers choose to sail the Beagle Channel in the afternoon. You can book both excursions on this website.

In the Alakush center museum, you will be able to complement all the information and history that the guides have given you while touring the park.
