This expedition on horseback is for the real adventurers who come to the southernmost city in the world, which also offers a new itinerary to visit places that have not been visited by tourists until now and be amazed by the landscapes of Tierra del Fuego's Patagonia.
The first four days are developed in the same way as the traditional horseback rides, but from the fifth day onwards, new adventures are proposed towards the Policarpo ranch and Thetis Bay.
Fifth day of the expedition ride in Ushuaia
In the middle of what will be the journey, there is a change in relation to the other routes, because we will be riding through soft terrain, stunted forests and peat bogs instead of beaches. This will make it necessary to dismount several times. After crossing the Centenario Lagoon you will enjoy a wonderful spectacle: the province's avifauna at its best.
In the middle of an unforgettable landscape for the pupils, you will see flying overhead cormorants, cauqueness, condors, albatrosses, caracaras, bustards and many other species. Also in the middle of the road you will see a colony of sea lions and even small pups (depending on the time of the year).
After passing by Cape San Vicente, a diagonal cruise is made, with a slow journey due to the terrain, which is very soft. If the weather permits, you will be able to see in the distance the San Juan de Salvamento Lighthouse, located on Isla de los Estados.
Finally we arrive at Thetis Bay, an abandoned sea lion factory, used for the slaughter of these animals. You can still see some vestiges of the work, such as an old boiler. We also visit the facilities of the former sub-prefecture. Overnight stays are in tents.
Itinerary from the sixth to the tenth day of the expedition on horseback through Ushuaia
Day 6 of the voyage will take place in Thetis Bay, with unforgettable landscapes. The program includes free activities to enjoy small excursions in the surroundings.
On day 7, we will return to Estancia Policarpo, through some alternative routes to the outbound trip, where we will visit more points of interest not observed.
Day 8 goes from the Estancia to the Puesto Rio Bravo, also at times we will retrace our steps and at others we will take different secondary roads.
On the ninth day we return to Puesto La Chaira, where passengers are welcomed with an exquisite "asado criollo" as a farewell.
On the last day (tenth), we arrive again at Estancia María Luisa and travel by car to Ushuaia.
