Two of the places that you should not miss in your visit to the stay in Ushuaia are undoubtedly the Escondido and Fagnano Lakes, beautiful and surrounded by forests and mountains. It is one of the trips to do in a dream vacation, to be in contact with nature and the majesty of the water.

General characteristics of the excursion through the Lakes

The conventional excursion to Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano will depend on the climate and weather conditions. Although this tour is recommended to be done between October and April, you can ask about departures during the winter season.

Departures are daily (including weekends) with a minimum of 4 passengers and a maximum of 18. Tickets can be purchased in advance (with discount) or at the counter. Children enjoy promotional prices and lunch is optional at an additional cost.

As this is a very popular excursion, it is recommended to book in advance, because places fill up quickly.

Itinerary of the excursion through the lakes

The adventure begins when the shuttle picks up the passengers at the hotel door in Ushuaia at 9 in the morning. We head north on National Route 3, where we will be able to see the Cinco Hermanos and Olivia Mountains and the Carbajal Valley with its enormous peat bogs.

One of the attractions of the trail is the possibility of visiting the nine kennels of Siberian and Alaskan dogs, which are trained for sledding.

Then, the road leads to the Tierra Mayor Valley, where the Bonete, Alvear and Pelado Hills can be observed. It crosses the Rancho Hambre, where Route J begins, which communicates with Estancia Harberton and Puerto Almanzara.

At 500 meters high you can enjoy panoramic views of Lakes Fagnano and Escondido. Here you descend on foot through an ancient trail to reach the emerald waters and a lush forest.

The trip continues along the road to the Bronsovich sawmill for a second descent to the Fagnano, to appreciate its beauty up close, almost 100 km long.

On the way back we will stop at another of the farms and finish with an exquisite dish of Fuegian lamb. At 4 p.m. you will be back at the hotel.
